Low Energy Cooking

Gas and Electric Ovens and hobs consume a lot of Energy. Consider alternative ways to cook without using a large amount of Energy as heat into the room.

Stacking Steam Pans

Steam cooked food not only tastes great, it is healthy and nutritious and as the pans are stackable, they only use a single hob, saving a considerable amount of Cooking Energy.

  1. Start off with the longest cooking items such as potatoes in the base pa
  2. Add root veg such as carrots.
  3. As the cooking time progresses, add more layers until the stack is complete.
  4. allow enough time to complete.

We recommend buying two sets of ‘Stacker Pans’ in order that the spare pans can be added to the tower to make 5 cooking zones for different vegetables. It is possible to cook a Christmas Dinner for 6 people using this method.

Thermos Flask Cooking

Did you know a Flask Cooking is ideal pasta and spaghetti and other dried foods?

  1. Simply boil enough water to fill the flask in a kettle.
  2. Rinse the flask with a little of the boiling water and discard to pre-heat.
  3. Fill with pasta or spaghetti, add a little salt as required.
  4. Top up the flask leaving 1cm at the top.
  5. Put lid on flask and carefully lay in its side taking care that it cannot roll off.
  6. Leave 15-20 mins rotating flask every 5 mins or so.
  7. Remove lid and carefully drain off.

With a little practice and adjustments of times, you’ll soon be making low Energy meals. As the Energy is trapped within the Flask, food is cooked and hydrated ready to consume.

Slow Cooker

Slow cookers consume around 300watts of Electricity and are a great way to cook food through without intense Energy usage such as an Oven uses.

Ideal for:

  • Stews
  • Casseroles
  • Full pot roasts
  • Much more..

Pressure Cooker

Pressure Cookers use intense heat and pressure of the steam, food is ready quickly and as cooking time is short and little Energy escaping as Steam during cooking as is the case with pans, it is much more Energy efficient.

It is possible to cook a whole joint of Gammon or Beef in less than 40 minutes. Throw in some vegetables and have a full Steam Cooked Roast dinner in less than 1 hour.
